SYMPOSIUM Architecture as Politics of Future

Mittwoch, 6.11.19 um 19:00 in der Paniglgasse / Argentinierstraße, Seminarraum AR

SYMPOSIUM
Architecture as Politics of Future

Architecture is once more at the heart of the question of future on various scales: On the one hand there are questions of how to control the contingency and to reduce the uncertainty of the future, especially how to encounter future disasters. On the other hand, there are questions of how to animate development and to generate economic future gains as well as political power. This coincides with the increasing demand towards the sovereign power to protect populations against disastrous futures, to anticipate future better by advanced scientific predictions and economic calculations, to prepare and to take measures against natural disasters and economic crisis.
These questions will be discussed through the case of urban transformation projects in Istanbul.
